Before Receiving Your Attunement
Please review the Guide's section 5, "Receiving Your Level 2 Attunement" before you receive your Attunement. There is information about the Attunement and how to prepare for the Attunement within that section that is helpful to review before Attuning.
It is also suggested to follow the recommended practice times outlined in the Level 1 Guide before receiving your Level 2 Attunement (1-3 weeks, minimum of 7 days).
Additionally, though not necessary, you may want to review the Symbols Cheat Sheet prior to your Attunement so you can meditate on becoming one with the Reiki symbols during your Attunement.

As a refresher from your Level 1 Attunement, prior to receiving an Attunement, it is traditionally advised in Usui Reiki to take a few steps to prepare ourselves to best receive the energy. Here is a list of what is suggested:
Days Leading Up to the Attunement
(1) Avoid any alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 48 hours before your Attunement as substances may hinder the flow of Reiki throughout your body (this includes smoking. If you are taking prescription medication, please continue to do so!).
(2) Avoid meat, junk food and processed foods (stick with foods like salads, fresh vegetables and fruits) for the 24 hours prior to receiving your Attunement — our bodies use up a lot of energy digesting food. Proteins and processed/junk foods require more energy for our bodies to digest and therefore, may steal vital energy from us.
As a recommendation, but not a requirement, to additionally prepare for your Attunement, you can review the 3 Reiki symbols and practice drawing them to feel comfortable with how each of the symbols work and/or how they are drawn so that you can meditate on the symbols during the Attunement video.
Day of Receiving Your Attunement
(1) If possible, move your body a bit before your Attunement- doing yoga, stretching or dancing to center yourself and to move energy around is perfect, even taking a short walk is great for shifting energy too.
(2) If possible, avoid caffeine. If you normally take a lot of caffeine every day, don't avoid it completely. Just limit if this is the case. For example, if you usually drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, only drink 1 cup before your Attunement.
(3) Eat only fruit and vegetables leading up to your Attunement. They are easier for the body to digest and provide nourishment and energy.
(4) Mentally prepare yourself for the Attunement by being open to receive it. This can be in the form of meditation or simply just allowing yourself to be open without any expectations.
As noted in the Level 1 Guide, these are the traditionally suggested methods to best receive your Usui Reiki Attunements. How you prepare for your Attunement does not matter as much as your intention to connect with Usui Reiki and being open to receive the Attunement. Please make the decisions that are best for you!
